Partnership with Parents

Previous experiences in the home, community and local environment are valued in the nursery.

Our partnership with parents

At First Steps we pride ourselves on strong relationships with parents/carers and we value previous experiences in the home, community and local environment.

Parents can contribute to staff’s understanding of their child and likewise, staff have a responsibility to share their knowledge with parents.

Staff build relationships with the children and their families during the settling in period and this continues throughout their time at First Steps.

Exploring our local environment and nature walks are an enjoyable part of the nursery curriculum. You will be asked to complete a consent form at enrolment for trips in the local environment. For nursery trips further afield, separate permission will be sought.

Transition from home to nursery

All children are invited to attend for at least two sessions prior to starting nursery to meet with staff and the other children. Parents and carers are involved in the “settling-in” period. This can vary considerably for each child.

At First Steps Day Nursery we believe in positive language and promote polite and acceptable behaviour at all times. We promote good practice in leading by example and incorporating positive attitudes at all times.
